Let's be real: Even if you consider yourself to be a top-notch cook, everyone rolls their eyes a little bit when they see a recipe that calls for freshly chopped or minced garlic. Why? Because even though we all love the taste of the ingredient, the time-consuming peeling and prep process that always seems to go with it is rather, well, annoying. That is, until this new cooking hack came into our lives.

This brilliant YouTube video shows that you don't have to fiddle and fumble with the papery skin ever again. If you simply stick a garlic bulb in a Mason jar, cover, and shake as hard as you can for half a minute, you will create separated, skinless cloves that are ready to cook up right away. Sure it sounds crazy, and like it would just create a big mess, but really, the fast motion is the key that allows the skin to fall off the bulb much easier.

As you can see from the video above this actually works, which means you will never have to settle for store-bought minced garlic in a jar ever again.
