Thanks to an open-and-airy top floor addition, a once-dilapidated Tennessee barn now offers up seriously stylish sleeping digs just outside Nashville.

Owned and operated by Lauren Palmer, Bloomsbury Farm is a working farm that provides the middle Tennessee community with organic produce via farmers markets and a 300-member CSA. It’s also a breathtaking events venue for weddings and farm dinners and, thanks to a beautiful barn renovation, a blissful spot to rent on Airbnb. Follow Lauren's lead on how to get the most out of a small space:

Embrace Wall-Mount Lighting

A long-armed, 80-inch living room lamp, as well as custom wall-mounted sconces in the bedroom, provide ample illumination without eating up table space.

Lauren made room for full-size appliances in the compact kitchen. Tall windows that highlight the sweeping 400-acre views offset the pack-it-in approach.

A chippy antique cabinet-turned-vanity maximizes storage space under the more industrial concrete sink. Horizontal shiplap reinforces width, and nickel wall-mount fixures conserve counter space. The mirror is made from an old die-cut mold.
