When the house from The Brady Bunch went up for sale this year, one interested buyer was Marcia Brady herself. People reports Maureen McCormick, the actress who played the eldest Brady daughter in the sitcom, thought about making an offer on the Studio City, California property.

“When the whole thing happened, I have to say that I really thought, ‘Gee, I would like to buy that house,’" she told the magazine.

But McCormick didn’t take it too seriously, especially after she heard there was a bidding war. Lance Bass was even told the house was his—only to have HGTV make a higher offer, reportedly $3.5 million, after the deadline. (HGTV ended up hiring Bass to star on their Brady Bunch house makeover show, so all is forgiven.)

“I just kind of figured once I heard all the craziness, I thought, man, I can’t even compete with the onslaught of people that I thought would be coming for it,” McCormick said. It figures, since the house is reportedly the second most photographed in America, after the White House.

Though she was “bummed” for Bass and other bidders, McCormick thinks the right buyer won out in the end, even if it wasn’t her. “If anyone’s gonna redo that house, who could be more perfect than HGTV?” she said. “I’m a big fan of their network. I’m sure that they will do a great job.”
